Travel Counsellors South Africa celebrates record growth

In a watershed moment for Travel Counsellors South Africa, Managing Director Mladen Lukic has announced record financial results for 2023, revealing growth in the Total Transaction Value (TTV) of more than 46% compared to 2022. The growth translates to a TTV of R1 Billion, which is even more remarkable as it was achieved with just under 150 Travel Counsellors (TCs).

The results set Travel Counsellors apart from its peers who have not seen similar growth during 2023. Considering that it has been only three years since the pandemic brought the travel industry to its knees, Mladen expressed high praise for all the TCs and Head Office staff who contributed to this historic growth.

He attributes this success to a combination of factors, "It's never just one thing but a combination of different factors. Firstly, the expertise and dedication of the TCs and the loyal support of their leisure and corporate clients. Then, I can also attribute the big jump in growth to the work we did during the pandemic to fine-tune our business model and optimise critical components of our business such as technology, processes, training, and consumer product."

This incredible year has seen Travel Counsellors reach other milestones. A record 13 TCs achieved 'Gold' status during the 2023 financial year. Travel Counsellors attain 'Gold' status when reaching a certain (exceptional) commission threshold.

Travel Counsellors will, this year, also pay a record sum for the Super Incentive, which pays TCs back between 5 and 10% of gross commission earned above a certain amount.

"Travel Counsellors has gained unstoppable momentum. Now we can focus on optimising our unique offerings in the leisure and corporate markets. We want to be the chosen brand for premium leisure and high-touch corporate travel services.", says Mladen Lukic.

Travel Counsellors are continuously working at making home-based travel businesses more accessible to travel professionals, and 2024 will see it expand its offering even further. The newest franchise, the Leisure Travel Counsellor, allows consultants with no GDS training to run a travel business from home. Travel Counsellors also introduced the Business Development Travel Counsellor earlier in 2023. This franchise is perfect for experienced sales and key account managers who will build our corporate client base.
