We retain your personal information for as long as it is reasonably necessary.

We retain your personal information for as long as we have a legitimate reason to keep it. These periods vary depending on the type of personal information, the reason why we originally collected it, and if there is a specific retention period required by law.

Security
Travel Counsellors take many precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. These precautions include:

  •  Hardware stored in secured datacentres behind firewalls
  •  All access to information restricted by password and/or secure key
  •  Restrictions to what information can be accessed via any location

We take great care to ensure all personal information remains protected, we cannot guarantee the security of data.

Of course you are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. Nobody at Travel Counsellors will ever ask you for your password, so please don’t trust anybody asking you for it.

6) How we keep your information secure

We have reasonable security measures in place to protect your personal information and to minimise the impact of a breach.

We base our security measures on the sensitivity of the personal information that we hold. Our security measures are in place to protect your personal information from:

• misuse
• unauthorised access
• being altered
being destroyed

We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks.
No system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee that we will never experience a breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards, but we regularly monitor our systems for vulnerabilities.

We will let you know of any breaches that may affect your personal information.
If something should happen, we have taken steps to minimise the threat to your privacy, and we will let you know if your personal information has been compromised.
We will also let you know how you can help minimise the impact of the breach.

Online Payment
We use a variety of payment providers to bill for our products online. These companies will have access to your personal and payment information. When paying by credit card, Travel Counsellors do not ever have any access to your credit card details.

We share information with our payment processing providers only to the extent necessary for the purposes of processing payments you make via our website.

7) Your personal information rights

You may ask us about your personal information.
You have the right to know when we collect and use your personal information, and to ask us what we know about you and what we do with that information.

1. Introduction

The provision of the Act The Promotion of Access to Information Act no 2. of 2000 (the “Act”) was enacted on 3 February 2000 and was put into effect in part on 9 March 2001, with Section 51 and other sections pertaining to the manuals to be prepared by public and private bodies coming into effect on 15 February 2002. The object of the Act is to give effect to the constitutional right of access to information held by another and required for the exercise or protection of any right, privacy, commercial confidentiality, and professional privilege. When a request is made by a requester in accordance with the procedure provided for in the Act, for access to information held by a body (being either a public body or a private body), that body is obliged to deal with such a request in the manner prescribed in the Act. More specifically, that body is obliged to release the information except in those cases where the Act expressly provides that the information may not or must not be released.

Travel Counsellors is an International Travel Company which recruits and empowers experienced travel professionals who are taking advantage of the opportunity to build and develop their own home-based travel businesses using the Travel Counsellors business system.Travel Counsellors (Pty) Ltd has been operational in South Africa since 2007.

Personal information is essential throughout the client journey. We use your personal information to:

  • provide our services to you, to carry out a transaction with you and maintain our relationship;
  • invoice you for our services or send you any other necessary documentation;
  • process your payment;
  • book your flight;
  • provide customer support;
  • process your information to our service providers and necessary third parties to perform our obligations to you.
  • liaise with public officials (e.g. Department of International Relations and Cooperation)
  • In case of emergencies
  • carry out other general administrative and business execution reasons (e.g. doing quarterly sales' forecasts).   

Employees 

 Personal information is essential throughout the employment life cycle. Personal information is used to:

  • manage our relationship with employees and run our business
  • conduct training and development
  • manage remuneration and benefits
  • assist in performance management and the disciplinary processes
  • assist in day-to-day management of Travel Counsellors

Suppliers  

 We use the service provider’s Personal information to manage our relationship. We use personal information to:
