Meet Hamid Ali, our Business Development Manager

Tell us a bit about your career to date

I actually started in leisure, but business travel was always the goal. Most of my career has been spent within a TMC environment and most recently at Amex GBT.

What brought you to Travel Counsellors for Business?

It’s difficult to look past a company that offers something so unique. If you pair that with how established it is, I was always going to be super proud to represent a company like this. Travel Counsellors has a unique business model and a great desire to look after its employees.

What does a typical day look like for you in your role?

It starts with clearing the inbox and any scheduled tasks, followed by a morning of calling prospects and some social media activity. The afternoon involves more calls and connecting with Travel Counsellors and other colleagues. Checking in with current clients and associated Travel Counsellors is vital, but winning new business is also important. At the end of each day, a clear inbox and no outstanding tasks in the CRM is a great place to be!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I really enjoy winning new business for our Travel Counsellors, but there’s a full sales cycle before this happens which I also love.

What do you enjoy doing away from work?

I’m a family man at heart. Most of my time is taken up by spending quality time with my immediate and extended family. Travelling is of course part of this too – staycations are a must in our household!

What challenges do you think businesses are facing when it comes to their travel management programmes?

Companies spend far too long searching, booking, and then searching again to validate the cheapest options. As travel becomes more expensive, spending excessive time searching makes the problem worse.

What do you think sets Travel Counsellors for Business apart from other TMCs?

A single point of contact is gold dust in the industry right now. Regardless of travel spend or company size, most of them require personal service but are unlikely to get it as standard with other TMCs. The service we provide is award-winning because it genuinely matters to us.

What advice would you give to businesses who are looking for a corporate travel provider?

If you would like a dedicated single point of contact, consistently high personal service, and top-class booking and reporting technology, then Travel Counsellors for Business is the number one choice.
