Meet Clare Bennett, one of our Corporate Travel Counsellors who recently got a client out of a sticky situation – all before he’d even realised that his travel plans had gone awry.  

Hi Clare. Can you tell us a bit about the recent situation your client found themselves in, and what you did to help?   

I was having my morning coffee and a message came through advising that my client's flight home from the US had been cancelled. It was around 6.30am, so I jumped online immediately and sourced an alternative. The flight was similar in time and remained direct, so his plans to get home to his family after time away were not disrupted.  

I did all of this while he was asleep. I reissued the tickets and sent over his flight details so that when he woke up, he had all the information and could get on with his day. Had he booked online, he would have had to navigate this himself while still trying to complete his last day of business in New York.

Thanks to our 24/7 duty office, we can jump on these kinds of issues immediately – rather than having to wait until an office opens. This means we can provide solutions quickly. If the client had to wait until 9am to speak to someone, it’s likely all the flights would have gone already.   

Why is it important for you to deliver outstanding levels of care to your clients?   

I want to do a good job and be part of my clients’ success.  Being self-employed, I rely on clients being loyal to my services - but this is not a given. Showing you can be trusted to have their best interest at heart helps to build these long-lasting relationships.
