If you’re a business owner or sustainability professional, you’ve likely heard about the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and are wondering how it affects your business. This guide will help you understand it better and how Travel Counsellors for Business can provide you with the data you need to help you comply.
What is the CSRD?
The CSRD is an EU directive that will require large and listed companies to share information on how they monitor a range of ESG metrics - including carbon emissions, along with their sustainability risk strategy.
Who does it apply to?
The roll-out of the directive will take a phased approach, with more companies gradually coming under its scope with qualifying metrics based on total asset value, net turnover, number of employees, and listing status. The initial group of companies will be those already required to comply with the Non-Financial Reporting Directive, who will need to publish their first report in 2025, covering the financial year 2024.
We recommend seeking advice to find out if and when your company qualifies.
How can we help?
Travel Counsellors for Business offers a post-travel carbon reporting service through our myTC Insights portal. Our calculations are powered by industry leader Thrust Carbon, helping ensure you get the most accurate and reliable data possible.
The carbon data covers flights, accommodation, rail, and car hire, and will provide you with a figure to input into your wider business carbon footprint reporting to represent your business travel
How can we help you reduce emissions from business travel?
As a result of the public reporting brought about by the CSRD, many companies are choosing to set targets to reduce their carbon emissions - something that we can help you do as part of your travel plans.
In a standard business travel plan, there are a number of changes that can be made to help manage carbon emissions, such as swapping flights for rail or grouping trips. We can also use carbon estimates during the planning phase to help guide you towards the most carbon-efficient flying options for a given route.
