Coronavirus travel advice

Travel Counsellors puts the wellbeing of our corporate clients and customers at the centre of everything we do.

We are following the latest travel advice from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office relating to COVID-19 (initially referred to as Coronavirus).

Cases of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) have been reported in specific locations in a number of countries throughout the world. As a result, some destination authorities have introduced enhanced health measures, so it is very important that travellers follow the public health advice relating to the local destination they are travelling to.

We’re monitoring the situation closely to ensure you can continue to travel in the safest ways possible.

What is the current travel advice around affected destinations?

Business travellers are advised to read the FCO travel advice for the country they are travelling to, which includes entry requirements and a link through to the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) TravelHealthPro website providing specific travel health advice for countries.

Countries around the world are being encouraged to take sensible precautions to prevent a spread of the virus. As a result, enhanced health screening procedures have been put in place at arrival and departure areas in many countries. Travellers should comply with these processes and take relevant preventative measures to reduce the risk of exposure.

Several countries have announced restrictions on entry by travellers who have recently travelled to a country with confirmed Coronavirus cases. This is likely to include China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Italy. Please check the FCO for the updated list of countries as this changes daily and may also include passengers entering in transit only.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has the most up to date and definitive advice. You can also ask your Business Travel Counsellor for additional guidance.

What happens if my business travel plans are affected?

If the Foreign & Commonwealth Office advises against travel to a destination and your business travel arrangements have been affected, your Business Travel Counsellor will always get in touch to advise you of the options available to you.

Given the increased risk of disruption at this time, it is even more important than ever to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance regardless of your destination - you should ensure that any policy properly covers you for disruption to travel plans and medical expenses, and you should carefully consider the scope of your policy and any restrictions on it.

Please rest assured that booking your travel through your Business Travel Counsellor means you have the backing of the company’s global support team, and a dedicated, 24/7 Duty Office should you need help and advice wherever you are in the world.
